"Wait! Don't run away just yet!"

Cubed3.com, which has a good standing relationship with Tecmo Japan, has received some insider information on Tecmo's feelings about Nintendo's recent announcement on canceling the European release. A Tecmo representative answering some of questions fans have been desperately searching for answers on.

First and foremost, echoing statements previously released by the company to Nintendo's announcement that the US was not releasing the game:

"It is regrettable that Nintendo has decided to not publish 'Project Zero' for Wii at this time. But the only thing we can do is respect the company's decision no matter what reason they have. "

The company also answered questions concerning 'Well, if NINTENDO won't release the game... can/will someone else release it?"

"No. Nobody will publish this title in any territory."

It does sound like bad news, BUT the article does give fans a ray of hope, as the representative also had THIS to say (bolded because I think _EVERY_ fan who wrote about the game, did fanart, wrote to Nintendo and Tecmo, signed a petition, etc NEEDS to read this!):

"However, we have once more realised that there are many fans anticipating our 'Project Zero' franchise and are very proud and pleased to find out this fact. What we at Tecmo can do from this point forward is keep this project for the future and devote ourselves to launching the next version that will live up to those expectations. We will definitely officially announce this when the time is right."

SO THERE you go! There is HOPE for the series yet! And some nice news coming from Tecmo that they HAVE been listening to fans. The representative ended by saying that from him and Tecmo as a whole, thankyou VERY much to fans for your support of the series.

You can read the entire article at cubed3.com here.

Nintendo/Tecmo have you down? Wanted to play Fatal Frame IV? (Actually bought a Wii JUST to play the game?!)

While we're all upset, disappointed, (secretly KNEW it was going to happen but were REALLY TRULY hoping it wouldn't) about Fatal Frame IV being trapped overseas, there may still be hope for European/US fans!

As previously mentioned, there is a Fatal Frame IV Patch Project being worked on. The Patch would require fans to purchase the game (because face it, even if Tecmo is responsible for FFIV not making it overseas, they did create a survival horror series we all love and cherish, and we WANT them to make more of them!), but would be run so fans would be able to read subtitles, notes, and files in english as opposed to Japanese.

More information on the Patch, how to help, what's it about, questions, etc can be found here.

As a special treat, even though fans were disappointed that nothing was mentioned at E3, the group responsible has released a TRAILER as a 'taste' for fans of what is to come!

Special thanks to Tempus, Chabi, Kittyfields, and everyone else who has been working on/contributing to the project. [ ]

"Yes Ruka, it's true, you're forever trapped on Rougetsu Island."

Well, the last bit of hopes that some fans were desperately clinging to has dissipated, as Nintendo's E3 conference has come and gone without even a mere MENTION of the game, explanation or reference.

Of course, if you believe in the paranormal, (or like most of us fans who had given up on getting a straight answer because of Nintendo & Tecmo finger pointing), a psychic already predicted that FFIV would not be mentioned at E3.

(To be fair, Tecmo made no mention of the game or the series either in their lineup, but since they issued a statement at the LAST E3 saying 'It's Nintendo's responsibility' most fans figured they wouldn't have much to say on the subject.)

While Nintendo (or Reggie) isn't talking on the matter. It seems the Official Nintendo Magazine in Europe IS finally making a mention on what on earth is going on. On May 29th, Live Wii, a french online newsite, broke the news that Nintendo Magazine said that it was official, the game was staying in Japan and would not head overseas.

(Despite leaked advertisements, promises, and news stories from their own magazine claiming the contrary).

"Originally scheduled for May 4th, Project Zero on the Wii has been canceled. This survival-horror where you fight ghosts will remain a Japanese exclusive." - Nintendo to Live Wii

"One time envisaged for a May release, the localization of the game has been canceled and the game will stay as an Japanese exclusive game". - Nintendo to Gonintendo.com

Of course, the blame game has stirred up once more, with rumors flying back and forth on which company is truly to blame for the game NOT coming to the US and Europe. Nintendo has kept virtually silent on the matter, with very few scarce opinions and NO explanation. Tecmo on the other hand, has said they would love the game to come to the US & Europe, but it is in Nintendo's hands, and respects their decision not to import the latest installment overseas.

There's been no new news on Fatal Frame IV (or anything really with the series in general). Some fans are still hoping against hope that Nintendo will say SOMETHING at E3 (June 2-4th).

While some fans hope, others are trying to take a more active positive approach to the news about FFIV not coming to the US! So, here's a short summary of what's going on and what YOU as a fan can participate in!

PETITIONS

Petitions urging Nintendo to bring the forth game to the US/Europe.

1. Project Zero France's fan petition - this petition is being sent (both via email and snailmail) to US & European Nintendo offices. It is available in a variety of languages to be signed.

2. Wii WANT FATAL FRAME! - Online petition for US fans, fans are encouraged to sign a guestbook to show your support!

LETTER WRITING

Active letter writing campaigns to Nintendo & Tecmo USA.

1. Fatal Frame IV, 50,000 email project - for both US & European fans, this email project's goal is to send 50,000 emails to Nintendo to let them know you how feel!

2. List of Emails/Postal Addresses for Tecmo & Nintendo - List on BCL of emails and letter addresses so you can write to both companies yourself and tell them what you think!

VIDEO PROJECTS

Video campaigns letting Tecmo/Nintendo know how you feel!

1. Fatal Frame (mock)Documentary - Silentlinger in BCL forums is asking for fans to make videos of them playing Fatal Frame IV (or other Fatal Frame games) telling Nintendo & Tecmo why they feel the game should be released to the US & Europe. Anyone is welcome to participate! See the link for more details.

2.Naturalborn gamers video petition - (Language Content Warning!) Natural born gamers on youtube created a rant on youtube that has turned into a landslide of video petitions with youtube fans/gamers putting their two cents into how they feel about Nintendo/Tecmo not releasing Fatal Frame IV to the US & Europe! If you are a youtube vlogger, or fatal frame fan (or both!) It's another surefire way of getting the message out there!

FACEBOOK

Facebook Groups campaigning to bring the game to the US/Europe.

1. Facebook group (US) - I believe this is mostly talking about the game not being released.
2.Facebook group (Europe & US) - Again, another great group started to include European fans too!

TRANSLATION PATCH

A group of fans is working on an English fanpatch for the fourth game. (You would still need to legally purchase Fatal Frame IV to use this patch! It is NOT the game!) You can learn more about the project (and it's progress) here.

They are currently looking for help on translation, so if you can read Japanese and would like to help out, please check out their Fatal Frame IV Translation Page

(BCL is also working on translating files in the Zero Wiki)

FATAL FRAME MEME'S ON DA

Another idea for fans to contribute is art memes on Deviantart! (Tecmo likes getting fanart from fans, here's a unique way, instead of sending just a letter, showing them how much you like the series! - You can send memes to Nintendo too!)

1. A Fatal Frame Meme (by Rawkin)

2. Project Zero Meme (by Aigekkeiju)

3. Umi's Fatal Frame Meme (by Umi-Mizukori-Sagara)

4. Fatal Frame/Project Zero Meme (by Cloudy-Sin) - covers all four games.

5. Hasana-chan's Fatal Frame Meme

If you have a unique way of telling Tecmo/Nintendo how you feel about the series, or information on what YOUR group is doing to help get Fatal Frame/Project Zero to the US & Europe, EMAIL US AT BCL!. We'll let everyone else know what you're up to! [ ]
