Thanks a lot to Tempus and the other staff members for their great translation.

My problem is that I´m from Europe. And the game is in Black and White with your patch. I´ve played always my JAP/USA games with Neogamma media Homebrew Channel. (even FFIV Jap).

My TV is compatible with 60hrz. So that isn´t the problem.

The patch works great, and the game is in english. But the problem is that is on black and white, not in color.

What can I do? T__T I bought the game a long time ago and I´ve been waiting this time for your amazing translation and now I can´t play it?  Sad There are a lot of european users who want to play it.

Thanks a lot again.

There may be an issue with some televisions/monitors and 60 Hertz PAL display. It may work better in 50 Hertz. We are working on a fix for this, but we don’t really know anything about video modes.

It's not the patch, it's the disc. I've got an old PAL TV and my game plays in black and white too; has done from the start, before the patch was even released. I'm told it works on newer TVs, but I haven't been able to test that. It's still playable! Just not as colourful.

But with Neogamma forcing it to PAL60 I can play Fatal Frame IV (only in jap of course) in full color with my Wii PAL in that TV. So It could´nt be a TV problem. If Neogamma (a disc loader) can do it. Its possible with your FFIV loader.

I´ve those options in Neogamma to play FFIV in color:

BOOT LANG:ENGL
FORCE VIDEO: PAL 480i
PATCH VIDEO: ALL
VIDTV PATCH: YES
PATCH COUNTRY STR: YES

Potential Fix: Get it here

You can NOT use this with the offline patcher. It should automatically reinstall when you first run it. If not, let me know (you can manually uninstall then reinstall after that).

I´ve unistalled it via your loader (right down of the screen). Later I´ve replaced the boot.dol in the apps/zero4 folder.

I installed it with the online method. But the game isn´t at color. Its and black and white BUT with new weird brights and the text are "flickering" (I don´t know is this word is correct).

PD: And I tried it on another 2 televisions. One is a Sony Bravia. And alawys b&w.

I have a similar problem with the new "Offline Patch Installer Updated. - 1.18.2010". If I launch the game with NeoGamma, it will play with full colours. If I use the English Patch, I see the game in a red monochromatic colours.
My system is PAL and my TV is able to show NTSC signals.
P.S. Let me know if you need more infos.

I have everything downloaded and ready to go but I havn't tried to install the patch yet (I've been asleep for 12hours).

I have a PAL Wii and a Sony Bravia 1080p HDTV.
I've already played through FF4 a few times in full color (without the patch).

I've never been able to get my Wii online, so I was going to use the 'offline install'.
Should I go ahead and try the patch as it is or should I wait for a fix?

Thanks.

Most PAL Wii users have no issues. If you do have issues, the colour will just be off. Unless you have a black Wii or a Wii with a serial number higher than LU64 (fix forthcoming).

Go ahead and try if you like.

Another potential fix: here

I'd like some PAL people to try it out and let me know what happens. This also includes the "black screen / black Wii fix" but the original patch must be uninstalled for it to work (if you've never heard of AnyTitle Deleter, just wait for a proper update).

My problem:

I have a PAL 4.2 Wii and use the patch with SD 4.2 system. But when the game start, the screen change to black. Only when I disconnected the nunchuk, I can see a japanese message.

Can I use the Potential Fix that tempus posted, with SD 4.2 System? Thanks. I have a 60hz TV. On 50hz I can´t see nothing, incluide the disconnected nunchuk´s message.

Sorry for my English, I´m Spanish.

Josel - you can see the nunchuck message?! Then you probably have a corrupted PatchContent.zip, or have put them in the wrong place on your SD card. You can always try the potential fix if you like.

I put the archives in the SD root. It´s correct. I download all the archives from the web of the transtlation patch project.

I don´t know nothing about scene and I have fear to brick my Wii. I try to download all archives, and if this don´t work I wait to future patch review. Thank you!

Ok. In this case, I try with the boot.dol that you posted. Thank you for all.

I find a solution. The problem is the costume extra pack, that you can download in the web of tanslation project. I delete de archives for the Zero4 and riivolution folder and the patch start without black screen.

Perhaps the costume pack have any incompatibility with the pal Wiis? I don´t know. Buy thanks. I go to play Fatal Frame 4!!!!

We really want you to try our experiments first, after deleting IOS 242 with AnyTitleDeleter. And if that doesn’t work, come on our chat (linked in the chatbox)

Rename it to “boot.dol” and replace the “boot.dol” you already have on your SD card.

Alright, here's the "proper" fix: Download
Rename that to boot.dol and replace it, either in the SD root or in apps/zero4, depending on which method you use. It will fix the issue for black and new Wiis.

It also has a fix for PAL users, but only works if your Wii is configured for 60Hz (this is in your system video settings) or progressive with component cables. I'd like as many people as I can get to try it out and let me know how it works out for them. It should be stable though Smiley
