If you are downloading and trying Riivolution as per the link I gave, just merge any folders. In other words, keep both around.

I also tried to re-download the patch onto another computer. It gets to about 3% and then tells me that it cannot be read and fails. Maybe its the computer? idk...but im so lost.

Well, first of all, on 4.2 you need to go to the SD menu on the main page of your Wii. That’s the little SD card beside the settings button. Otherwise, yah, it will crash. You also need to make sure have the 4.2 private folder.
Lastly, other people were having problems with PNY cards. But solve the above issue first, k?

Hello again! Thank you for the new Riivolution file. I´ve done the "Riivolution" file into the "apps" folder. Then i´ll get a new "icon" (a "Riivolution" icon in the homebrew channel). So now i´ve to "icons" -one is the "patch" icon and the other one the "Riivolution". Why i´m telling you that is just because only with the "Riivolution" itself i can start to run the game (i´ve to put in my FF4 game disk just when i switch on my Wii-only in that way the wii starts reading it-so also thank you for the tip) But now i have two problems. First thing is: the game runs just in japanese language and in red/black screen!! Second problem is: Before i tried it that way i didn´t put the new "Riivolution" file into the "apps" folder. But then my Wii don´t start reading the disk (just can hear the drive is running) but still just can read "reading disk" and after a while "please insert FF4 disk on the ring screen. i think it´s strange! When i have the Riivolution file in the "apps" folder (together with the "first" ZERO 4 folder) i can start the disk but just in red/black colors and in japanese language- and when i do the Riivolution file outside the "apps" like i did in the "old" version ,i still get the ring text with those messages but without running the disk. I tried to reinstall and install it again and again but ...after the message "installing success" and then upcoming ring screen- NOTHING!! I think i´m not far away from the real success but i realy don´t know whats my mistake  I hope you can help me again. Many thanks and greets, Andy |

P.S.:
In my "old version" i´ve done it exactly like i´ve told you in my first post. Just took the extracted Riivolution folder (inside the major Riivolution/apps folder of your new link) and exchanged the old Riivolution file.

First of all, try switching your video mode from PAL 50 to PAL 60hz. Fatal Frame really doesn’t like PAL video modes.
Secondly, if the game is in Japanese, you either:
1) didn’t put the riivolution/Zero4.XML on the root of your SD
2) didn’t put the large 750mb Zero4 folder from PatchContent.zip on the root of your SD
3) Set the patch to 'disabled' in the loader menu.

Hello!
I need a little help regarding the patch, because I can't get it to work and I actually don't know what I have to do...
I already searched the forum and read almost everything there is, but a lot of links are dead, like the "Instructions/Help" one.
I put all the necessary files onto my SD card and then put it into my Wii, but nothing happens. When I look into the Data Management section there isn't even shown that something exists on the card. I remember something about online and offline installation things, but I don't find anything about it and can't recall what it was about. I think that would be the next step, but I don't know how that works...

For instructions help, check the 'help' folder inside the zip file. It’s all there in offline html form, just double click to open it in your browser.
Your trouble is probably one of:
- Didn’t put the private folder on the root of your SD card
- Went to the wrong SD menu
- Merged the private folder with one that already had saves or channels

I am not sure what reply there was. But I do not have the English Patch at all on my computer or the SD card. I don't seem to have the installer either. I have a Windows 7 and my Wii is 3.4 (I think).

Iv been waiting soo long to play the game and now the the only thing parting me from it is this uber confusing and complicated patch instaling crap!!OR at least post some links with the instaling steps that WORK!

How about the help folder I included, along with the quick reference 'Check this!.png' image? Either of those might be nice for you. The basic steps are: 1) Download patch and patch contents. 2) Unzip 3) put everything from those foldrs onto the root of the SD 4) run from wii in SD menu (4.2), SD Data Management (3.0-4.1), or HBC 5) play game lain: The site moved to http://www.fatalframe4.net |

I followed all those steps and it still doesnt work.When I turn on my wii and put in my SD card and choose the sd menu it apears emty and i got everithing listed on Check this! on my SD card..

KirikoAsanuma - Nothing at all? Some very very small amount of Wiis just don’t work with this method (so far, we’ve had two), but if you did things properly it should never be blank. Try the other SD menu, fiddle around, and if you can’t get it, come onto the live chat at http://ta.gd/zero4 |

I keep getting a black screen now and everything seems to freeze up. The first installation part worked just fine, but now the screen goes black and nothing responds. It keeps doing this. I do not have any controls plugged in, there is no disc in, I looked at the Check This! file to see exactly what should be on my SD card and according to that picture, it's perfect. *EDIT* Still NOT working. I deleted all game save data so everything is completely empty. The first try after that the screen went blank and my Wii remote started to vibrate incessently. Turned it off and started over, black screen as usual. Please help. |

QuietYurei - Did you unplug all your Gamecube controllers? Also, some PAL wiis were having trouble with video modes. Try the replacing the boot.dol with the newest Riivolution boot.dol from http://rvlution.net/riiv (v.1.02). |

I don't have any gamecube controllers, so no, nothing like that was plugged in.
Also, my Wii is NTSC, not PAL. Should I still try the newer version of Riivolution?
Don't know if this would help or not, but I have a newer model and the serial number is LU74394888. Also, I don't know how I failed to mention it, but I'm doing the offline installation. I downloaded the correct version for my 4.2U Wii as well.

If the patch up for download uses an older version of Riivolution, will it be updated at some point? I didn't have any problems installing the patch, but I'm just curious. I think with the exception of the optional separate downloadable boot file for PAL users who couldn't install the patch, the patch up for download is still the same one that came out on January 17th (or so), right?
