Great images. I am having trouble opening any of the MAC_OS images. (granted, opening them on PC. XD) But the ones in the JPEG file are  completely OK and look great. Smiley

I'm not certain what you mean by MAC_OS images - I included 19 images all of which were JPEGs, and no hidden files. I am running on a Mac, though, and I used the Mac built-in archiver so it may have stuck something in.

I have looked it up - The apple zipper includes all sorts of metadata - the Mac version of the Thumbs.db file I suppose. I'll reupload a clean version to the same address.

If your team is able to do this. I will worship you. Hug you even. Marry you. Scratch the last part. It has been a long time since i have heard of an attempt by fans on the size of a dvd. Let alone a game with alot of movies. So it definitely just won't be the script. Thumbs up.

Since we're still discovering more about the format used, this is subject to change. We are in no way responsible for being accurate about our progress. For example, we may be able to simply reverse the process and encode new images without worrying about checksums - perfect, instant 100%. Or we may discover that the text for the diaries is kept within an secret encryption scheme that uses a hidden Puzzle Bobble game and will only decode properly if you break the high score. Okay - both of those are not likely, but you get the idea.

So... in the mean time play lots of Puzzle Bobble.

In the future, should things go well, I may look for help in modifying hex codes with translated versions - this is at least a month away, quite possibly a few. Should the patch ever be completed, you would need:

A copy of FFIV
A Japanese Wii
A USB hard drive
Several special applications (for applying and running the patch off the connected usb - a few approaches are being considered)

No worries. I'm a much better graphic designer than I am programmer, so I won't need any help on that score should images need changing (unless, of course, there are much more than I'm expecting). I may need help typing the translations into the program (since the text is extensive), but that would be a lot further on than we are now. We're still at the programming heavy stage, where most of the labour is in figuring out how to do it properly. If and when I do need help with the sort of simple but labour intensive work (changing graphics, entering translated texts, etc) be assured I will be reading through this thread and asking those who have offered.

We've almost for the whole game script decrypted, minus the tags. By tags, I mean the sorts of information that tell us when windows open and close, where the text occurs, how long the text lasts for, etc. We also haven't gotten the character encoding done yet, as it has some tricky alpha levels.

Once the game script is ripped, I'll zip it and post it. Once we've cracked the text encryption, we can attempt to replace characters. If successful, then Stage 2 will be a go. Then Stage 3 would be figuring out the patching implementation.

Still, good progress so far. I'm optimistic.

That's part of what it says at the very start of the game, on the black screen before you start playing. Stuff about the game being set in the 80s and being a work of fiction, etc.
I've noticed a couple of pictures in the file that I've not actually seen in thegame, that's pretty awesome Cheesy I've no idea what the problem is with the attachments... any other way to upload them? I'm intrigued!

As you can see, we pretty much have the game script complete (thanks to Mr.Mongoose). It should be done by Monday (or maybe Tues). Chabi has almost completely gotten all images, including the fonts. A website with all the scripts will go up soon as well. We may also attempt to put English text in the game now, if successful I will post a video. More to come on Monday.
