I came to this island upon my uncle's recommendation.
Although I was scared at first, I'm very grateful now.
The people at the hospital and the islanders are all very kind and have taught me all kinds of things.
It seems as though this year, a festival performed once every decade, the Rougetsu Kagura, will be held.
The woman who performs role of the Utsuwa dances in the Kagura, seemingly dedicating the dance to the gods, and I was a little surprised to find out that the islanders had recommended me for the role of Utsuwa.
Still, the role of the Utsuwa has a rich and beautiful feeling to it, and I was told that it was just right for a person around my age, so I decided to accept.
To be able to participate in this island's ancient festival is a great honour, and I think it will be a wonderful opportunity to convey my gratitude in a better way than I normally could.
It seems that, from now on, I'll need to undergo some sort of purification ceremony involving training under a mask.
I would like to perform this role properly...
