The following timeline spans through the events that occur in Fatal Frame 1 - Fatal Frame 3 as well as information mentioned from the various Fatal Frame Fanbook and Gameguides (I do not have the Real零 : Another Edition or Zero Sound cellphone games so I have no way of knowing how and if those tie in or not to the overall story) Some of the dates are 'estimated' since some information on the dates and ages of the characters is obscure. For the sake of clarity, some minor events have been left out.
Some Fatal Frame IV events have been added and may contain spoilers concerning the game.

There are conflicting notes concerning the following dates. According to Yae's diary, the disappearance of the children occurred on June 24th. According to a news clipping, their disappearance occurred (presumably) on July 3rd. There is also mention of Yae and Ryozo disappearing the day after Mikoto's disappearance, but Yae makes a diary entry on June 27th (so she couldn't have disappeared then?). So, while the exact dates are unclear, these events did occur between June 24th and July 6th.

- Recovering her memories, Ruka gathers the fragments of the Mask of the Lunar Eclipse and recreates it.
- Ruka ascends to the Gesshou Shrine atop the Tsukuyomi Peninsula Lighthouse and plays the Tsukimori Song to calm Sakuya's spirit.
- Choushiro places the mask on Sakuya, and all the spirits cross over to the other side.

- Kei telephones Rei Kurosawa and learns of Yuu's death. Rei asks him to continue researching the Manor of Sleep.
- Rei encounters the Engraver while taking a shower.
Events of Hour IX
- Rei finally gains access to the Shrine Courtyard.
- Rei receives another creepy phone call that sounds like Kiriko Asanuma.
- Rei receives another phone call from Kei, who suggests they visit the ruined house again.
Events of Hour X
- Rei once again hears Miku singing the Sleeping Priestess song.
Events of Hour XI
- Miku finds the Mirror of Loss in Reika's cell. (Night 13)
- Miku finds the Engraving Shrine. (Night 13)
(Rei wakes up)
- Rei wakes up and goes to Miku's room, where a depressed Miku is sitting on her bed. Rei discovers the tattoos on Miku.
- Miku falls into a coma.
- Kei arrives.
Events of Hour XII
- Kei collects all four Tattooed Stakes from the Handmaidens. (Night 15)
- Kei is caught by Reika in the Chamber of Thorns.
(Rei wakes up)
- Depending on the player's actions, Kei has either fallen into a coma or disappeared from the couch, leaving behind only black soot marks.
- Rei finds Kei’s notes.
(Final Night of cursed sleep)
- Rei discovers the attic above Miku’s room.
- Rei finds the Spirit Stone Radio and one of the earrings.
Events of Hour XIII
- Rei discovers the fate of the three surviving Handmaidens.
- Rei collects all five mirror fragments by following Reika’s voice.
- Rei fights Yashuu Kuze and restores the Mirror of Loss.
Events of Final Hour
- Rei discovers the Chamber of Thorns.
- Rei defeats Reika, and successfully sends Reika and Kaname to the "Other Side" to rest.
- Rei meets Yuu's spirit crossing over. He takes her tattoos, and tells her to continue living on.

- Rei wakes up from her cursed sleep.
- Miku wakes up from her cursed sleep.
- Kei wakes up from his cursed sleep.+
