Marital Status

I was playing FF1 the other day and came across the line were Junsei calls Tomoe his "assistant and partner". It's such a little thing but what do you guys think of listing them as a couple? Leave it as it is or...? Hex 23:36, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

I think it's down to how you interpret the word. It can mean anything from "my lover" to "someone to accompany me" or "someone I work with" (for what it's worth the guidebook does mention she was working under him as a writer, as well, and aspired to become an author in her own right). Though you'd think it would be closer to the former... is it definite enough? Tomoe certainly doesn't treat him as anything more than a senior in the business to whom she looks up and aspires to emulate... like she's interested in his knowledge and the way he works, rather than... other aspects. Takamine also refers to Tomoe more like a fond mentor or friend than like he has some kind of romantic interest in her. Affectionate in a friendly, mother duck (...ish) way. So I think it comes down to interpretation (and perhaps which language you're reading the notes in). This is just the way I've interpreted things.

Thinking about it, you're absolutely right. The contrast between the wording and the way they actually addressed each other always struck me as a bit odd. So, yeah, interpretation is it! Hex 01:26, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
