Background Info
The Stairs Hallway was one of the areas constructed after the Unleashing for the Kuze Family to live in when the rest of the Manor was sealed. It contains three sets of stairs connecting different areas of the Manor, and connects with the the Partitioned Room, the Room with Blind, the Stained Corridor and the 3F Storeroom.
There is also a door leading out onto the Grave Courtyard roof. It is blocked by a chest until Hour X, but Kei Amakura can push the chest aside as part of the Echo Stone Earring sidequest.
Tengai Narumi and Nirei Moriya pursued Shrine Carpenters into the Stairs Hallway during the massacre to create Sacrificial Pillars. At least one carpenter was murdered there, and another fled out onto the roof.
Ghosts Encountered
- Wandering Mother - fought here in Hour I, and a vanishing ghost as part of the "Mother and Daughter" Sidequest.
- Yoshino Takigawa - at the top of the stairs, and again running into the Room with Blind.
- Black Shadows - pursuing Yoshino.
- Tengai Narumi - descending the stairs.
- Shrine Carpenter - frozen in place at the door to the Stained Corridor, and at the top of the storeroom stairs.
- Nirei Moriya - boss fight in Hour VI.
- Wandering Daughter - as part of the "Mother and Daughter" Sidequest.
Items of Note
Strange Phenomena
- From Hour VI, the small closet on the second floor will be open. When Rei goes inside, the door will close behind her. Numerous ghostly faces will appear on the wall, and a female voice will say, "Why are you trying to run?"
- In camera mode, the walls and floor by the entrance to the Stained Corridor will sometimes appear to be splattered with blood.
- One of the boxes on the shelves on the first floor will tumble off as you pass.
