Ruri is Miku's black and white cat. Her name means "Lapis Lazuli", a reference to the blue colour of her eyes.[1]
Ruri was given to Miku as a 'gift' from her deceased parents although she was never shown in Fatal Frame. When she is not at Miku's side, Ruri is wandering around Rei Kurosawa's house. She acts as a kind of ghost detector, because she sometimes notices that things aren't quite right in the house before Rei or Miku do.
Misc. Info
- It is unknown whether Ruri is male or female. For the purposes of this article, the female gender is used.
- It is possible to play with Ruri by pressing X next to her and then O. In response, Ruri may sniff Rei's hand and stroke it affectionately, or paw at it.
- A small oddity in the game is where Ruri is in the Altar Room; if Rei opens the hallway closet, Ruri will suddenly leap out from above. How or why Ruri was able to hide behind the closed closet door is a mystery.
