From ZeroWiki
| |||||||||||||||||||||
Musubi and Tsuzuri Osaka are the vanishing ghost twins encountered in Fatal Frame III. They are also featured in the short story "Crimson Dream" in Zero 3 Comic Anthology. Musubi is depicted as a young girl with long hair that flows down to her back, with Japanese style bangs. She wears a light colored kimono and her obi is tied in a butterfly knot like the other twins of Minakami Village. Musubi and Tsuzuri's story takes place from the time they are young girls to when they are of age for the ritual.

Events of Crimson Dream
Early Life and the Crimson Ceremony:
Musubi and Tsuzuri were twins born into the House of Osaka. During their childhood they only had each other, because the other villagers left them alone. They did this out of both fear and respect, and the twins never knew why. The twins were very close to each other because of this. From a young age, the Osaka Twins shared a unique ability of sharing each other’s pain. When one of the twins fell and injured her leg, one time for example, the other received a similar wound on her leg.
When Musubi and Tsuzuri reached adolescence, they began to wonder why the crimson butterflies roamed the village and why the villagers treated them different from other people. Once, when Musubi expressed her feelings to a villager she had feelings for named Kiichi, he rejected her saying: “Being associated with twins is something I cannot do!” Tsuzuri secretly loved this man also, but kept her feelings to herself, for Musubi's sake. From this experience, they noticed that they were special. They were basically forbidden from associating with anyone outside of their small world. In the end, they only had each other.
When they became of age, they were moved to the Twin Houses (Kiryu-Tachibana House) in preparation for the ceremony. When the time came to undergo the Crimson Sacrifice Ritual, they were taken down a passage to the Hellish Abyss. Once they arrived, they were told the truth about the ritual. Even though they were perplexed by this revelation, they agreed that it was their destiny. While being strangled to death by Tsuzuri, Musubi's thoughts and pain were transferred to her. The ceremony was successful, because the bond held between Tsuzuri and Musubi was strong. As the Mourners toss Musubi's body into the Hellish Abyss, a crimson butterfly emerges from the bruise on her neck. Musubi's final thoughts were "Thank you, Tsuzuri."
The Twins' Settlement in the Manor of Sleep:
Allegedly, Tsuzuri became depressed over the guilt she felt inside for murdering Musubi. It is speculated by fans that Tsuzuri died of the Tattooed Curse. However, without knowing the precise dates of the Osaka twins ritual & the date when The Rift opened in the Manor of Sleep, this cannot be confirmed.
Events of Fatal Frame III
The twins, while never named in the game, act as spirit guides for Kei Amakura to help him solve the mystery of Minakami Village and explain some of what his nieces Mio and Mayu went through.
