Fatal Frame Character
Miyuki Hinasaki is the mother of Mafuyu and Miku Hinasaki, and the wife of Masato Hinasaki. She is also the daughter of Mikoto Munakata and an unknown man. Miyuki was born with the ability to see things normal people could not, a gift she passed on to her two children.

Past

Not much is known about Miyuki's life, not even her maiden name. Miyuki is the only known child of Mikoto Munakata. She was weak from birth, and was often ill. Because of her strong sixth sense, she had few friends as a child, and was always worried that she might have passed on her ability to her children.[1]

She was apparently a student under Masato Hinasaki, and married him and had his two children. There are hints that this marriage may have been arranged by the Hinasaki family. Miyuki would also assist Masato with his work using her mother's antique camera
(Camera Obscura). Masato went missing whilst on an archaeological dig, and some time later, Miyuki found her mother's old camera, and began using it to take pictures of things nobody else could see. Miyuki's nervous disposition might have strengthened the camera's influence over her.
Miyuki eventually succumbed to overuse of the camera, and committed suicide by hanging herself. She is one of only two or three characters whose death is considered a direct result of overexposure to the Camera Obscura. Her grandmother, Yae Munakata, to whom she bears a striking resemblance, also committed suicide by hanging herself, due to grief and overuse of the Camera Obscura.

Misc Info

  • Miyuki and Yae Munakata look so similar that a lot of fans have confused Miku's flashback of her mother and the discovery of her mother's body to Miku dreaming about Yae.
  • In Zero ~Shisei no Koe~ source material, it is stated that Miyuki and her husband gave Ruri to Miku. Whether this was before their deaths or afterwards (as a sort of divine intervention) is unclear.
