Character Pages are articles found within the 零Wiki that describe a particular person or ghost mentioned or featured within the Fatal Frame Series. They are usually long indepth bios on all information regarding the particular person.

Contents

Parts of a Character / Ghost Page

At the very beginning of each character or ghost page, there should be a short/sweet summary of who the character is and their overall connection to the Fatal Frame Universe.

On the left hand side, there should be one of several character / ghost templates. How important / how much information is available on a character determines which type of bio should be used. If a character / ghost is featured in multiple games, the game template where they were FIRST introduced should be used.

If questions/debates pop up on a page or you have a question about the character specifically that is mentioned within the bio, place the {{talk}} tag at the top of the page and post your question on the character's discussion page. (See Help:Talk Pages for more information)

SPOILERS

Currently, all characters featured or mentioned in Fatal Frame IV should have SPOILER TAGS at the top of their bio page!

You can use one of the following:

To be used for pages that have general spoiler information in them.
To be used on pages that have spoiler information on them that WILL RUIN THE GAME and its endings if read.

Sections

  • Past
This section should talk about any history of the character that occurred BEFORE the events mentioned in any of the games the character is involved in.
  • Game Name
(IE - Fatal Frame, Fatal Frame II, Fatal Frame III, Fatal Frame IV)
If a character is in multiple games, games should be listed (in order) and their events described out in a narrative fashion underneath each section. Information such as how to fight with this character (or against them), where they appear within the game, or any information that doesn't fit a narrative form should be put in the Misc section.
  • Alternative Endings
Listing of non-canon endings with a picture (if available) and a short description of what happens to the character specifically in those endings. If a character is in multiple games, and affected by the outcome of those endings too, list by game order.
Be sure not to summarize the endings or explain how to get them. That's what the ending pages on the wiki are for!!
If a character/ghost is NOT specifically mentioned or addressed in EITHER ending, there is no need to mention their fate! Ie, "This ghost was exorcised after Miku Hinasaki successfully lifted the curse on the Himuro Mansion".
  • File Photos
Any in-game file photos of the character. Should be listed in bullet form and linked to the actual image.
  • Spirit List Entries
Spirit List photographs. They should just include the number, name, and description. (The actual spirit list image is not required here.)
  • Misc. Info
Any and all information that may not be relevant to the character's bio/history itself but can be considered interesting tidbits of information.
  • See Also
This section is a listing of related pages and articles that are related to the character and users may be interested in viewing to learn more information about people, concepts, curses, rituals, etc connected to the character.
  • Page Also Available in:
This is not a section, but usually a sidenote underneath the See Also section. It should link to the page if it has been translated/written out into other languages.

Note: All character histories should follow CANON events and endings. When which version is canon is not yet known, this should be mentioned and both series of events should be listed and made clear.

Images

(See Help:Images for further information)

  • Bio Image
Bio images for characters should have (when available) a full profile or body image. It is preferred within the wiki to use conceptual artwork and/or rendered full body artwork of the characters & ghosts. Best case scenerio is a nice quality image showing a profile headshot and full body image.
  • Supplemental Images
Images used to help tell the narrative history of the character. Don't go overboard, use sparingly, and make sure it images are RELEVANT and high resolution. These can include FMV screenshots or file photos found within the game. Should be shown as thumbnails between 100 - 150 pixels.
  • Ending Images
If the character/ghost is featured in alternative endings (and those are listed), make sure to include images of what happens to your character in those alternative endings. Should be shown as thumbnails between 100 - 150 pixels.

Link Bars

Link Bars are bars that contain a summary of information concerning a particular game. Depending on what games the character has been featured in, depends on what link bars should be at the bottom of the bio.

Currently, these are the bars that are available:

Categories

ALL pages on the wiki should have at least ONE category tag, character pages are no exception. A number of categories can be used on character / ghost pages depending upon the character's role in a game. Some people in the Fatal Frame Universe can be considered BOTH characters and ghosts, so be careful!

  • Character Category Tags:
[[Category:(Game Name Here) Characters]] ie Category:Fatal Frame Characters
[[Category:(Game Name Here) Ghosts]] ie Category:Fatal Frame Ghosts
Category:ZCA Characters - Characters from the Zero Comic Anthology.
  • Nonspecific Category Tags (often used):
Category:Notfinished - Bio is not considered complete and needs work.
Category:Notfinished-cite - Bio needs cite & reference tags.

See Help:Category Listing for a complete listing of Categories found within the wiki.

Conflicting Information

Occasionally, some characters may have continuity issues or conflicting information is available from several official sources. In these cases, first and foremost, the GAMES are considered the #1 source of information. Supplemental materials such as guidebooks come next in line. IF there is conflicting information, make sure to make a note about this within the character's bio somewhere. This is why it's also important to cite pages too!!

For more information on using sources, see Help:Sources.
