Folklorist
From ZeroWiki
A folklorist is one who studies the folklore and culture of a society. Folklore usually involves tales, beliefs, customs, and normal ways of life. Similar to an anthropologist, folklorists usually focus on the stories and creative works of a culture through their actions, customs, and oral history.
In the Fatal Frame Series, we're introduced to a variety of folklorists from both the Meiji Period and modern times. The concept of a roaming folklorist in Japan, however, isn't far off, as there were many men in Japan (especially during the Meiji period) who collected folktales, stories and oral tradition. Below is a list of the Folklorists mentioned within the Fatal Frame series, as well as articles on well known Japanese folklorists who contributed to the preservation of Japanese rural culture.
