• The Rougetsu Kagura - theatrical Kagura dance, performed on Rougetsu Island every ten years, worshipping the lunar eclipse. The last such ceremony ended in the deaths of all six performers.
• Kiraigou/Ceremony of Passage - ancient, "genuine" version of the Rougetsu Kagura, stopped decades before as it caused a disaster and became taboo. Secretly revived in 1970 using Sakuya Haibara and her Kanade, but failed, causing Sakuya to Bloom and kill all of the islanders.
• Cutting the faces from the dead - custom on Rougetsu Island was to cut off the faces of the deceased, so that they would not Bloom.
