History of the Camera
The camera's exact history is unknown; Misaki mentions that she has brought the camera from home, and that she has seen its powers, though it isn't clear whether or not she has used it before. It is not known when this particular camera was invented, but Dr. Asou's notes state that it is a prototype Camera Obscura (not a complete one) which he considered the first good example of his work. It was left in the safekeeping of the descendants of the Asou Family, meaning that it has been passed down throughout the Asou family for generations, explaining the dirty and aged look.
Fate of the Camera
The camera's fate is unknown. After fighting Sakuya in Chapter 8, the camera is not shown again, either in the following cutscene or the alternate ending.
