Obtained: Complete the Echo Stone Earring Sidequest during Hour X or Hour XII. You must beat the game once normally before you are able to unlock this ending.

Where it begins to differ is when Rei wakes up the FMV is cut off right before she starts crying. As the credits roll, photographs of the characters show up through the credits. We see Miku and Rei developing photographs, Kei Amakura waking up on the couch in Rei's living room, Kei going with Mio to see the dam (the same location as shown in the endings of Fatal Frame II), and then finally the entire group being introduced to one another.

Regional Difference

In the Japanese version of the game, Yuu absorbs Rei's tattoos but they do not stay on him. In the US and European versions of the game, the tattoos stay on Yuu's skin as he drifts away.

Misc. Info

*Although this ending has not been confirmed as canon within the series, Makoto Shibata has stated in an interview^[1] and on Twitter^[2] that game staff considered this to be the true ending.
