Ceremony of the Ropes

This ceremony uses the Laceration Rope, created by the Strangling Ritual, to bind and close the Hell Gate. The ceremony takes place immediately after the Strangling Ritual has concluded; the Rope Shrine Maiden's blood provides the ropes with the power they require to bind and hold back the gate.

Preparation
A Rope Shrine Maiden is sacrificed in the Strangling Ritual to produce Laceration Rope.
The Ritual
After the maiden has been torn limb from limb, the Ceremony Master and Priests remove the bloody ropes from her body, raise them in the air to bless them, and then bind them across the doors of the Hell Gate. This seals it for approximately 10 more years.
Result
The Hell Gate is sealed and the Calamity is prevented.

Misc. Info
- While this ceremony is 'shown' in Fatal Frame, it was presumed to be a part of the Strangling Ritual and only named separately in Japanese due to a translation error. It wasn't until Fatal Frame III was released that this specific ceremony was called by name in English.
