There are two modes in the Fatal Frame Series referred to as Battle Mode.
Fatal Frame

In the first Fatal Frame, the main mission mode was called Battle Mode.
Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir
In Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir, Battle Mode is unlocked after clearing the main story mode. Battles can be fought in either normal or Nightmare mode, and clearing the missions will unlock costumes for Maya. Clearing each ghost's mission Nightmare mode will unlock their Nightmare form, which can be viewed in photography mode. There are six ghosts to be fought in Battle Mode: Girl in White, Faceless Man, Hiding Boy, Manipulated Woman, Old Woman and Woman in Black.
